Staycation Inspiration

Staycation inspiration

Our lodges provide the perfect backdrop to switch off from the busyness of life and offer a place where you can reconnect with nature, loved ones and enjoy a whole host of outdoor pursuits (Scottish weather permitting, of course!).

If you’re looking for inspiration for your next trip away, we’ve shared some of the experiences you can enjoy in Scotland when you visit us, with some help from VisitScotland’s staycation guide.

Calling all active adventurers

When you stay with us, you’ll be able to take advantage of free golf at Craigieknowes Golf Club.  Set against what’s known as the Scottish Riviera, it’s a special course to enjoy.

If walking or cycling is more your thing, Dalbeattie Forest offers the perfect exploration ground for little (and big) feet. Find forest trails to suit all ages and abilities.

For the thrill-seeker in you, you might want to enjoy adrenaline-packed activities.  Choose from wind surfing, clay pigeon shooting, flyboarding to name but a few.

Foodie experiences

The benefit of staying in one of our lodges is that it’s your home from home and you’re able to plan what you’d like to cook during your stay. If you’d like to take a break from the kitchen, why not check out Barend Bar & Restaurant that provide sit in or take away service, Steamboat Inn for proper Scottish pub grub including local seafood or Luigis Italian Restaurant.

Fun for all the Family

With a variety of beaches along the coastline to enjoy a picnic or an ice cream. Dumfries and Galloway also boasts family days out for the young and the at heart such as Cream of Galloway, Mabie Farm and Dalscone.

Culture fix

If you’re keen for some civilisation whilst you’re here, then Dumfries is just a 30-minute drive away. Visit the stunning Caerlaverock Castle, the Robert Burns Centre where Burns spent the final years of his life, or Moat Brae, the place where Peter Pan began. The Queensway provides breathtaking scenery along a windy road through the Galloway Forest with plenty of walks and wildlife to see from the wild goats to the red kites.
