Christmas 2020 holidays cancelled

Christmas cancelled slider

Well, that was a shocker.  After all the upheavals, twists, turns and changes, we thought we had it.  We amended bookings, we held off on ordering the bubbly, we have worked tirelessly to follow the government’s rules and now this.  From the bottom of our hearts, we are truly sorry to have to cancel your Christmas plans.  This isn’t something we ever wanted to do, and we thought we’d done enough to avoid it.

Christmas 2020 Holidays Cancelled

Unfortunately it isn’t to be.  Following the Prime Minister and First Minister’s announcements yesterday (19th December); travel to and from Scotland is illegal from Boxing Day.  Travel within Scotland is only allowed on Christmas Day.  Dumfries and Galloway will move from tier 1 to tier 4 on Boxing Day.  We know what a terrible blow this is to those of you who had been looking forward to your holiday here.  Hopefully you will be able to amend your plans and enjoy the day with your families at home.  Our team are contacting everyone with bookings to refund or move you.

More Information

Please see the Association of Scottish Self Caterer’s information page to see more details about why Christmas 2020 holidays are cancelled.

2021 Bookings

Thank you to those of you who have already contacted us to wish us well.  It gives us great hope that so many of you are looking forwards to returning.  Our plan now is to focus on 2021.  We are still taking bookings online for holidays beginning April 2021.  Due to the ongoing uncertainty, we have decided not to open to guests in January, February or March 2021.  However, you can book for any time after this.

Merry Christmas

Lastly, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  It will be different for all of us.  Let’s hope 2021 is a better year!  Thank you from all of us at Barend
