Hidden Gems

Hidden Gems

As you may be aware all our lodges and cabins at Barend Holiday Lodges are individually owned.  This means they are all lovingly decorated and unique in their character.  However, until recently the website didn’t help differentiate between the lodges very well.  This meant that some of our loveliest accommodation was being passed over.  We hope that the new website will help you pick a lodge that is best suited to your needs but in the meantime here are some of our favourite “Hidden Gems”.  These lodges and cabins have sometimes been ignored in the past, but we think they deserve a bit more of your attention.  Have a look and see what you think!

Scotsdale Lodge (Lodge 35)

What do we like about this lodge?  How about the bright, cheerful colours?  Or the special snug area upstairs for the kids?  Scotsdale Lodge’s owners have put a lot of thought into personalising this lodge, so you really do feel like you’re in a home from home.  Cushions, throws and curtains have been lovingly handmade and add a special touch.  Added to its loch view, close proximity to the facilities, king size bed and level entry, this is definitely a hidden gem! See here for more information.

Milvus Lodge (Lodge 22)

Where to start with this lodge?  Free wifi?  Check.  Loch View?  Check.  Milvus Lodge also boasts a modern kitchen, kingsize bed, leather sofas and 5 single beds; one of our few lodges to sleep 7 people.   With its pretty throws and light airy feel (courtesy of the picture window in the living room) this lodge is a great hidden gem!  See here for more information.

Lodge 49

Lodge 49 doesn’t accept pets, which often means it is overlooked.  However, if you are leaving your furry friend at home, this lodge is a great choice.  The interior decor has a continental-chic feel to it, with bespoke pieces of furniture, which we really like.  The lodge owners have put a lot of love and care into this lodge, giving it a very welcoming feel. Located just around the corner from reception, with a level entry, this lodge is very well situated and a real hidden gem!  See here for more information.

Lodge 54

Like Lodge 49, Lodge 54 is also a pet-free lodge.  But if you’re travelling without pets, Lodge 54 offers a brand new walk-in shower room downstairs; modern, extended kitchen and high quality leather sofas.  We love the wide open space for kids to play outside.  Combined with its proximity to the facilities and ability to sleep 8 people in 3 fully separated bedrooms (the only lodge to offer this), this lodge is a brilliant family-friendly option.  It scores highly on the Visit Scotland grading and we can easily see why.  See here for more information.

Lodge 32

Just along from Scotsdale Lodge, Lodge 32 also has fantastic views of the loch and a level entry.  We like its extended kitchen, which also has a washing machine – perfect for washing your swimming stuff after a day on the beach!  This lodge has two twin rooms, which is great if you’re staying with a group of friends.  The open plan room sleeps 2 and has a separate seating area, which makes a great touch.  If you like a loch view, this one is a great option for you to try!  See here for more information.
