Barend Swimming Pool

If you book more than one holiday home with us, you can join up and come for a big group swim. You get 2 slots per property per week (1 slot for bookings of 5 nights or fewer), so you may wish to combine them to get even more swimming!

Local residents are very welcome to use Barend Swimming Pool. You’ll need a membership first and then you can book Private Swims or Social Swims. Find out more about becoming a member below.

We have recently begun Social Swim sessions again.  These are great if you don’t want to pre-plan as much, fancy a last minute swim and don’t mind sharing with other people.  We’ve put lockers in so that you can keep valuables safe.

Barrel Sauna at Barend

Barend Sauna

Following guest feedback we’re delighted to announce the return of a sauna to Barend. In partnership with Sauna at the Sea, we are installing a handmade outdoor sauna, offering beautiful views over the Solway Coast and Lake District.

Tucked away, with woodland behind, Barend Sauna enables you to fully immerse yourself in nature whilst relaxing in the heat. Seating up to 6 people, you can choose between hiring the sauna privately, or join in a Social Sauna to meet other like-minded people.

Each sauna session includes 55 minutes in the sauna and use of the cold dip baths, with indoor changing and hot showers. For the ultimate time out, book it with a Private or Social Swim beforehand (membership required for swimming sessions).

Barend Sauna is available for guests of Barend Holiday Lodges and local residents to book. Please note it is not available for other guests and proof of residency may be required.

Opening Times & helpful information

The pool is open 9.00am – 9.00pm Monday to Sunday, with reduced hours on public holidays (like Christmas and New Year’s Day). Barend Sauna is due to open in January 2026 and will generally operate during the late afternoon and evenings.

We try to keep closing times for maintenance and upgrades to a minimum and plan them for the quietest time of year (generally January).  For the winter of 2025-2026 we undertook major investment in the swimming pool (replacing the liner) during November. Therefore we do not anticipate Barend Swimming Pool being closed during January 2026.

Please note that the pool does not have a lifeguard and use of the pool is subject to guests agreeing to the following Conditions of Use: Conditions of Pool Use.
